Date: March 29-31, 2018
Venue: La Casa Encendida
Winner: Lil Dani
For the second year in a row, La Casa Encendida has become the nerve center of urban dance during Madrid's Holy Week. An alternative plan, a procession of "cofrades" in tracksuit, which has surprised the more than 1,500 devotees (and atheists) who have spent this long weekend enjoying the Red Bull BC One Camp. Three days of workshops, talks and high level competitions where many dancers devotees have been able to learn, dance and greet their idols as well as improve certain tricks or receive advice from true professional dancers.
B-Boy Chey, last edition winner and one of the most important B-Boys in the country, starred in one of the most outstanding workshops, so much so, that the he had to repeat the next day by popular demand. Among the international stars attendees enjoyed the highlighted hip hop tutorial by Clara Bajado, the footwork classes by All Stars Mounir and the one by Korean Hong10. Although the inspirational talk of B-Boy REDO overcoming "No excuses, No limits" was without a doubt one of the highlights of this year's cycle.
But on Saturday afternoon, all eyes and attention turned to the most awaited moment of the long weekend, the National Final of the Red Bull BC One, the most important B-boying competition in the world. There, on the linoleum of La Casa Encendida, the 16 best breakers of the country have competed in one-on-one battles to be chosen as the Best. It was Lil Dani from Malaga who finally won the passport for the International Final that this year will be held in Zurich on September 29th. This edition will also go down in history by counting among the 16 participants with the first B-Girl to reach the Final, B-Girl Law from Granada.
No doubt the final battle has been the highlight of the night. The young Lil Dani has faced Elihu from Granada (one of the favorites), who has shone with his temper on stage and the explosive style that characterizes him but has not been able to overcome the elegance and softness of Lil Dani, who has earned the unanimous vote of the three judges: Mounir, Intact and Hong10. Lil Dani, a native of San Pedro de Alcántara, in Málaga, started in the world of break at age 8. Today with 20 years he has proclaimed himself the winner of Red Bull BC One Cypher Spain and now, he will have to work hard for the International Final.
