More than 700 hip hop addicts where standing in line in front of the Wip Villette, were the Red Bull BC One Cypher France took place. Under thunderous applauses, the 16 best French B-Boys competed with one and only goal: getting their ticket for the Last Chance Cypher, the ultimate round before the world final, to be held in Zurich at the end of September.
The cypher closed the Red Bull BC One Camp France: five-days of hip-hop culture celebration - workshops, battles and lectures open to all.
Among the competitors to the BC One Cypher France, the 8 wildcards (Khalifa, Nasso, Aya, Tonio, Dimi, Mounir, Demez and Ilyes) battled the 8 B-Boys qualified the day before the cypher. (Killa Keim, Dilan LO, Pac Pac, Timo, Arnil, Kae, Shlag and Link).
The battle saw several generations of B-Boys competing against each other ; highly renowned dancers like Pac Pac or Tonio battled some young rookies like Kae ou Killa Keim. Which was, at the end of the day, a perfect way to gauge French dancers' high technical level.
From the beginning to the end, Hugo aka Shlag claimed the victory: physically impressive, technically on point and, most of all, in perfect osmosis with the music, Chasseur 2 Prime's best element squeezed out his competitors one by one without making any mistake, reaching the podium.
This year, the Red Bull BC One Cypher France also focused on b-girls: on Saturday, July 7th, a battle brought together the Top 8 b-girls of the country. The two finalists, Kami and San Andrea, then battled on Sunday. Finally, it was B-girl San Andrea who grabbed the crown. Like Shlag, she will fly to Zurich at the end of September.
